Cross-country skiers will also get their money’s worth: the high-altitude trails around Kartitsch and Obertilliach are among the most beautiful in the Alps and offer fantastic views of the East Tyrolean mountains.

East Tyrol Mountain Summer

Kartitsch is located at over 1300 meters above sea level and is an ideal starting point in summer to discover the East Tyrolean mountains. Between the Lienz Dolomites and the Carnic Ridge, countless hiking trails, easy family routes, more challenging summit tours and impressive natural sites such as mountain lakes, alpine huts and quiet forest paths await you. Via ferratas and historical high-altitude trails also provide variety.

Mountain bikers will find well-marked routes in all levels of difficulty, from leisurely forest paths to sporty climbs. If you are looking to cool off, you can reach several outdoor pools and natural bathing lakes in a short driving time. In addition, Kartitsch itself offers a leisure center with tennis, a playground and a Kneipp facility – perfect for relaxed summer days in the mountains.
